Welcome to therapy with Doro (they/them)!
I am a Registered Psychotherapist offering individual therapy sessions to adults in-person and virtually across Ontario.

WHO I SEE
If you see yourself reflected in the following:
-
queer and gender-diverse folks navigating identity, relationships and shifting political landscapes
-
(late or un-)diagnosed ADHDers unlearning a lifetime of shame
-
first or second generation immigrants who are tired of running on survival mode
...we could be a good fit!
Other common concerns I work with:
-
anxiety and depression
-
grief (whether or not specifically related to bereavement)
-
support for community organizers/activists

WHAT I USE
Here are some of the approaches I use:
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
Let's talk values and workable action.
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
Let's learn some skills and tools.
Queer & Feminist Theories
Let's interrogate power and privilege.
Existential Therapy
Let's talk meaning, freedom, and hope in a desperate world.
If you have other ideas on what’s helpful, or these terms make no sense at all, that is okay.
Let’s collaborate on a care plan that works for you.
WHAT I BELIEVE IN
-
I believe in harm reduction.
I am not interested in shaming you out of your habits/patterns. Let’s meet you where you’re at, and leave you with some safer, alternative ways of being.
2. I believe in the power of getting angry together.
Therapy is inherently political, because our mental health is inextricable from our material conditions, which in turn is tied to privilege and oppression. Let’s talk about what upsets you about the world and brainstorm ways you can resist.
3. I believe in planned obsolescence (of therapy).
A little therapy can go a long way in finding what you believe in, finding your people, and ways to cope. Paradoxically, my goal as a therapist is to put myself out of a job - when you no longer need to come see me because you’ve found the tools, strengths, and meanings that keep you going.
